All of my projects are handcoded using a text editor utilizing CSS, PHP, HTML, Javascript, Flash, Photoshop, and mySQL.
Walking Flintwww.walkingflint.comWalking Flint (Michigan) is probably a one-of-a-kind site on the web. Flint Journal Steve Jessmore photographer took massive full-frame digital images of entire blocks of Flint, stringing them together in ultra-wide and ultra-high resolution composites. My job was to make sense of these on a Google map for situational awareness and then allow people to navigate (walk along) the blocks. Users can leave comments and memories on individual blocks.
VH1 Host Rachel PerryFormer VH1 host Rachel Perry asked me to build her a site that reflected her passion for all things tiki and Hawaiian. She provided me with a simple Hawaiian map, which I scanned, then broke apart various elements in Photoshop. I then hand-animated them in Flash creating distinctive areas of the site for the user to engage in. The site had to be hip and represent both her, the VH1 brand and the demographic of 18-34. She launched the site on the Howard Stern show and it received millions of hits.
NQC ManagementA hip-hop management company, NQC wanted an objects-based website; of traditional buttons, navigation, etc. they wanted to "living" objects based on their most recent acts for users to click on.
Bar On ABar On A wanted a hip web presence to match its clientele, but be accessible. I went with a Flash-based site that catered to both the wine and beer crowds. The bar wanted to be able to update the calendar and news themselves, so I setup an FTP site for them and wrote a simple txt-file reader in Flash that would read the contents of a txt file into the site. I'm currently building a new site that features a community section for the many regular patrons and a space for bands to upload their demos for booking purposes.
Lori HamlinLori Hamlin wanted a sleek, clean, and simple website to express her art as a NYC-based makeup artist. We picked fonts, designed layouts, and worked closely together. Initially launching in 1999, I maintained and redesigned the site several times over a period of 5 years.
Alteon TrainingWebsite for the training division of The Boeing Company. All major airlines who operate Boeing aircraft used this site to book their initial training for their purchases.
FlightSafety International (Berkshire Hathaway)www.flightsafety.comFlightSafety is a business and private jet training company. They wanted a completely new website with an emphasis on courses, locations, and its full suite of training products and services. Working with RCM Technologies, I devised an AJAX based reservation system, used Google Map APIs, and created all the site templates. Note that when a user books a course at this company, they are spending $10,000-$60,000 with a single click. The challenge of keeping the content updated on the site proved difficult. I assigned a delegate at each Learning Center and designed a self-packaged content management system. Each location can edit thier own center's data right on the page but can't alter the layout or functionality. This keeps them focused on updating the most relevant data. Their old site:
